What IS the point of shooting stuff then?
I don't know, I thought it didn't matter as long as it wasn't a flash animation

well. DV is so low res. no depth, no colour. all a bit tacky really
( just jumpin of that bright shiny hook you cast - Im board, someone upset me )
and the camera's are so small. I mean, you dont make epics with a camera the size of a cheap paperback.
you want something the size of microsofts get out of being punished funding cheque to the Bush campaign for president....

How come epic paperbacks are the size of a camera, then?
as for the Microsoft Cheque-sized camera, where would you get a tripod? The only one I know of has the Earth resting on it...

OK. maybe some are the size of a harback. but its still a book. and you can carry it in one hand. now a film camera looks like a camera. they look like you'd need a truck and a couple of ugly people to move all the moving bits.
Besides, no one is getting 200 million to film a boat hitting an ice berg and sinking if they wave the DV supercam from tandy/radio shack at the sponsers....
you need a big sod off camera and half of nottingham to swing a dam silly budget like that.

take a look at tehse pics on the below link grizzly thats the camera im using, true lighter than a beta SP or digi beta camera still it is bigger than a paperback book ill find youll agree.
also the DSR-500 camera which is the one im using, great results can be acheived and have been acheived. a cut above beta but not quite digi beta. but on my budget its the best i can get and you can get away with blowing it up to 35MM if the Mill spend some serious time with it, if you want to go into the in-outs of DVcam feel free

now lets not get to mine's bigger than your's debates.
I was just trying to get a rise out of you.
in making anything - you actually need to make it. SO shooting on panavision 35mil cameras are nice. shooting on DV is nice. if your being paid ( and more importantly, if the camera is being paid for....then 35 or 70 ). If not, then DV works. a decent DV works well. that 500or the canon xl thingy or that sony 2000 ( 3ccd jobies )
I use a Digi8, but thats because I didnt know what I was buying at the time. ( next one will be 3ccd )
I just wish I was 21 again. didnt have to worry about mortgage and ffeding the little ones. and didnt think my mate was a twat for making a space1999 model fly on camera by scratching the film where the engines was.
Sorry Ian. I was a sad little football freak
Now. It doesnt matter what you film/shoot it on. just so long as what your filming/shooting should be shot/filmed.
How about Chelsea eh....Do they suck or what
